What to send

• News tips — something you think we should look into. Tell us what you know, how you know it, and how to reach you if we have questions. Documents and links help.
• Corrections — tell us the story, what is wrong, and the correct information. If we got something wrong, we fix it and say so.
• General enquiries — questions about a story or our coverage, or a note if you would like to write for us. Say what you would report and we will review it.

What happens after you write

A human reads every message. We do not promise a reply to everything, but tips and corrections are read and actioned: corrections that check out are made as soon as we can, and a tip may take longer while it is reported.

The Main Story is privately operated and independent. Advertising, when it appears, is clearly labelled and does not influence our editorial decisions. Our About page sets out our editorial standards, and our Privacy policy explains what we do with personal information.
